Summary
BlurGuard does not collect, transmit, or store any personal data outside your browser. Everything the extension processes stays on your device.
- No cloud. The extension makes no network requests to any server. All detection, blurring, and settings logic runs locally in your browser.
- No analytics, no telemetry, no advertising. There are no third-party tracking libraries or SDKs bundled in the extension.
- No accounts. You do not need to sign in or register to use BlurGuard.
What the extension does with your data
Data processed on your device (never leaves it)
- Page content. When you blur an element, draw a blur area, or enable auto-detection, the extension reads the text and structure of the current webpage — only what is necessary to find and mask sensitive values (emails, phone numbers, card numbers, tokens, and so on). This processing happens entirely in the extension’s content script, inside your browser tab.
- Blur settings and profiles. Your saved blurs (CSS selectors of blurred elements, drawn areas, saved profiles) are stored in Chrome’s
storage.local— the browser’s local extension storage. This data is never sent anywhere.
What is stored locally
chrome.storage.local— your blur list, settings, and profiles. You can remove everything at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing the extension’s data fromchrome://settings/content/all.
